The two years that followed on afterwards went by quickly, we dated a lot! spent every weekend alternating sleep over between each others houses and if we weren't physically together we were texting or sitting hours on end on Skype. Year 10 ended and we flew through year 11, with mostly getting up to shit, hanging with the boys, spending every school holidays within the four walls of Dylans bedroom. That was literally our life, short weekdays and a lot of long road trips just him and I, in his 2 seater, long tray, Ford Courier. This car was absolutely his second love, which sometimes got more attention than his first love 😂. We had so many adventures, seeing a lot of Queensland most of NSW, Melbourne and many other destinations, we were making memories and living every day as if it was our last. Then we hit year 12! the last year of school finally! by this point Dylan was living with myself and my family and we were back and forth between his house and mine, we spent every waking moment together. I had signed my school forms pretending to be my mother to swap all my classes over to the same class and schedule Dylan has. The poor guy never got a break 🤣 we were joined at the hip, I subconsciously became one of the boys and he was like a family member we never had. Our worlds were meshed into one and from then our bond just grew, stronger and stronger for one another. We had many ups and downs don't get me wrong, Dylan's culture was vastly different to mine and we both struggled being teenagers and having to uphold his cultural traditions. My culture was being a 'massive kiwi family' were no one kept anything secrets and everyone was in everyones business. (Dylan took a minute to wrap his head around such a loud group of humans 😂) If one of us girls was fighting with another sister, we made sure the boys picked a side 🤣 "If Im angry at her, you're angry at her and her bf too!" 😆 oh goodness the joys of being young, hormonal and dumb! After two years of Dylan spoiling the shit out of me and finding out my love language is actually gifts! his savings account didn't look very good either. Dylan had a part time job and I was in the middle of my Cert 4 in business, so every cent we earned went to each other, food, partying or travelling 🤙🏻 We were absorbed in one another and it didn't look like it was going to change. Graduation was fast approaching us and in order to receive our year 12 completion certificate, we had to sit any and all exams outstanding. so during exam shut down, I remember this so clearly, Dylan was busy working on his car with the boys and was due to attend his last exam with me for SOSE. I told him I would handle it and to keep having fun, 😂 oh god we were way before our time. I walked into the classroom ready for my exam to start and the teacher said to me; "Miss. Horton, will your other half be joining us?" I replied: "Yes sir, he will be here any minute, I'll take his exam for you and place it on his desk." the exam starts and thank god, Chief, our sose teacher, didn't realise, I wrote my exam and Dylan's! I had studied enough so that our two assessments were on two different subjects with two different formats. God if only I could have that much drive and motivation now as an adult!! The bell goes and I wait to be one of the last students to go, knowing i'm going to have to come up with some sort of good story to cover mine and Dylan's ass. Instead through the crowd of students Dylan sneaks into the classroom, smelling amazing, cologne I can smell from a mile away! He kisses me, grabs his exam and heads to the teachers desk. You can see every other guy in that room thinking Damn! I might need a new girlfriend, that's loyalty! We place both our exams side by side on the teachers table and go to walk out. Chief, calls out our names and we head back to his desk, "Yes, sir?" Dylan so calmly asks. Chief has a quick read over both of our exams, looking through the different content and relaying it back to one another. Dylan stands there smiling wide eyed knowing he will probably get away with this, chief stands up and leans across his desk to look Dylan directly in his eyes and says; "Whatever you do boy, Marry that girl." Dylan got an A for the first time in his schooling career that day. 😂 Then 3 years later we run into chief, our old high school teacher at the shopping mall, we walk over to say hi, Dylan leans in and says to him; "Bro, I didn't just marry her, we have 2 kids now too." and I stood there thinking, that's typical Dylan. Calm, swag, self confident Dylan, who knew what he wanted and never stopped or let anyone sway his opinion, he went after me and I was court, hook, line and sinker....🥰
