Lauren-
Grace and Dylan became parents
a couple of years later and their
son Dominic changed their lives
with his first cry, little did they
know 2 years later they would be
holding a diagnosis of Autism with
Dom's name on it. Watching their
friends kids hit normal milestones
while Dom couldn't be around
noise, had stopped sleeping and
was nonverbal. Lauren-Grace has
never shied away from a challenge
and within 6 months she had
learnt, accepted and
accommodated her new norm
being a mum to a beautiful ASD
son.

We gain momentum by taking the
first step. What was the first step
you took that led you to stepping
out of the shadows?
The first thing that helped me
wake up was talking. Talking
about Autism, everything I knew
about Autism, every encounter I
had in regards to Autism, how
Autism had changed my life. I
started with my first Vlog, the
positive reactions and
compliments I received from
people I knew but also from total
strangers overwhelmed me.
However it wasn’t the
compliments or the praise that
made me wake up, it was the
feeling of a weight lifting off my
shoulders. I had shared one of the
most traumatic, inspiring and life
changing moments with the world,
I was free from being weighed
down, unsure of the world’s
opinion. I was ready, ready to
accept, ready to learn, ready to
teach and educate others. Mostly I
was ready to let Dominic be his
true self and ready to protect him
from any negativity the world may
have thrown at him.
