I had a fiance, Eeeeek, I love being able to say that and love that it's Dylan, corny or not corny, I honestly couldn't have made Dylan better myself in a lab, even if I tried. School had finished and Dylan had signed himself up for an apprenticeship with Volkswagen, of course he did (you couldn't just chill for a while, could you 🙄) No gap year for us, lol. I also had secured a job working for my cousin at a child care centre, so we had 3 weeks at Lennox Heads loving the sun and the sand and it was straight into adulthood. Dylan was chosen out of 75 applicants to par take in the apprenticeship, it was an amazing opportunity for him and I was so proud of his work ethic. A couple of months went by and we were both living in NSW, we both wanted to have something of our own so badly, we moved away from both families in order to just be "us".Though our families were not thrilled with a 17 and 18 year old living on their own so far away, we had nothing to prove and wanted to just explore one another without the world's opinion. We loved it and it was definitely nice to be in our own home, to be independent and to be just a couple. That February quickly approached us and it was time for our Engagement Party, we used our family friends house, she lived on 2 acres of flat beautifully green grass. There was a beautiful decking that came off the back of the house and a huge entertainment area. One of my uncle's is a DJ and set up in one corner, we had a professional photographer and Photo Booth in the back room. The property was massive and thank god for that as we had 62 people show up. We all laughed, danced, shared stories and speeches, and also created a shit tone of good memories. Games, Photos, drinks, food, good music and loud people, was exactly what you get when you mix a whole bunch of Kiwi's and a couple of South Africans 🤣. The night was truly fun and an event I will never forget! it was a perfect example of who Dylan and I are. Months and Months went by and every time we saw a family member or caught up with friends, everyone reminded us of how fun and rememberable our Engagement Party was. This made me think about how different I wanted my wedding to be, so just like that we started planning!
Though after 6 short months it was taking a toll on us, Dylan and I, were so far from all our friends and family and the travelling was making us exhausted. As we had discussed to move back to the Gold Coast, Dylan and I decided to get married legally sooner then we had previously expected. Our grandparents from both sides were very traditional and wanted us to make it official, my parents also being high up in the church, wanted us to respect their wishes of us being married before living together. Dylan and I spoke and decided it wasn't any sacrifice to give our older families the wish they had asked us for, and just like that we were MARRIED! My father has been a marriage celebrant for many many years, Dylan's best friend was there to sign the papers and my sister Alaina, was there for me. We clinked our glasses full of champaign, celebrated and our two families went to dinner and just like all kiwis become one family over food. 😂 (definitely has something to do with my Tongan mother 😂) Not many people know that Dylan and I were legally married before our wedding day, until now that its in this blog, lol. We were settled back into our Gold Coast lives, Dylan was smashing goals at work and then we had some shocking news! only 10 weeks out from our Wedding Day, WE ARE PREGNANT!! Dylan and I were truly happy, though yes it was earlier than we thought and there was no planning what so ever, however we loved kids and both believed no one is ever really ready to be parents, so let's do this! 😆. Dylan and I chat about things and seeing though I was getting monthly injections which was for contraception, we could only be a couple of weeks along and that it will be okay and not to worry about the wedding day. That week we went for our first scan, Eeeeeek, time to see our baby 🥰 time to hear that perfect heart beat and hopefully to see a cute little face, which in my head I was hoping for a perfect mini Dylan 😇.
